Are you looking for a fun morning for the family with heaps of activities for young and old? Well head down to the Kingaroy Community Garden on Pound Street on Saturday 17 September for huge ‘Open Day’ that promises something for everyone.
Here are just some of the free activities on offer:
The Open Day is being organised by BIEDO (the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation), RHealth and the South Burnett Regional Council and is sponsored by Stanwell. Grace Gibson from BIEDO says the day is all about ‘relaunching’ the garden to the community and getting families involved.
“We’ve got a new Management Committee to run the Kingaroy Community Garden and have developed a long-term management plan to ensure it’s cared for and available for the community for the foreseeable future. The Committee includes BIEDO, RHealth, the Endeavour Foundation, SBRC Parks and Gardens and the new Healthy Communities Coordinator,” Grace said.
“We’re hoping it will be a beautiful spring day so we can welcome families along to have a look at the revamped Community Garden… there are some new garden beds and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of herbs and veggies growing soon!” Grace said.
Berneice Hilly from RHealth will also be on hand to run the interactive cooking demonstrations and is encouraging families to ring RHealth on 4162 5230 to order their free (for the first 50 families) “Tucker Box Project Kit” to pick up on the day.
The Open Day starts at 9am and runs until midday at the Kingaroy Community Garden on Pound Street.
