The BIEDO/Centacare Women's Wellness Days are off to a great start with more than 120 women taking part in Proston and Tansey.
The ladies were treated to massages, healthy cooking ideas by RHealth's Berneice Hilly, pressure points for health by Robyn Haynes, talks from Womens Health Nurse Marcia Hunt and Centrelink's Lynda McLeod, council happenings with Cheryl Dalton and tips from colour consultant Val Barron. The wonderful Sr Christine Henry was also there to help everyone "Lighten up and Laugh" and she also gave everyone the "Heebee Geebee's", a relaxing head massage that proved extremely popular.
BIEDO's Rural Officer, Karen Seiler, said it was great to see so many women coming back again this year and the feedback is already proving very positive.
"The women really do appreciate these days. Rural women are the cornerstone of their families and their communities and these special days support them with an enjoyable relaxing few hours and lots of helpful information. And following the floods, this is proving to be a great opportunity for women to reconnect and share their stories" Karen said.
The days are being run by BIEDO (the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation), in partnership with Centacare South Burnett. A further eleven days are being held in 2011 including will be running another 13 Wellness Days throughout 2011 in the North and South Burnett,
The events are funded by the Australian Government through BIEDO's "Beating the Blues" project.
