From Drought to Flood - Women's Wellness Days are back to help
Over the past three years, the hugely successful Women's Wellness Days have helped our communities cope with the impact of drought. Well this year they're back and it seems their focus will be just the opposite - helping our women cope with the aftermath of flood!
BIEDO, in partnership with Centacare South Burnett will be running another 13 Wellness Days throughout 2011 in the North and South Burnett, with the first two days kicking off in Proston on the 8th February and Tansey on 9th February.
This will be the fourth year the Wellness Days will be held with more than 1600 women being pampered since 2007! The days will be held in community halls across the region and will once again aim to give our rural women the chance to relax, learn new skills, catch up with friends and just de-stress for a few hours. There will also be services available to help with flood assistance information and counselling.
BIEDO's Karen Seiler said there was so much positive feedback from all the pamper days last year that BIEDO decided to run the days again in 2011.
"Rural women are the cornerstone of their families and their communities and these special days support them with an enjoyable relaxing few hours and lots of helpful information," Karen said.
Following Proston & Tansey, the Women's Wellness Days will be held at:
The events are funded by the Australian Government through BIEDO's "Beating the Blues" project.
