BIEDO's first ever "Action this Day" Peak Solutions Forum was held on Wednesday 1st December at the Kingaroy TAFE campus, with more than 60 people representing government, non-government, industry and community attending the full day workshop to devise key actions on the topic of Employment, Training and Education for the Inland Burnett community.
Guest speakers included Robyn Mapp of Chinchilla who discussed ways to welcome new families to our towns and how to draw energy company funding back into our community. Gavin Walton of Condamine Electrical Company shared his insights into attracting and retaining great employees and Richard Cowley gave an overview of his business "The Brolga Project" which helps attract university students to the bush to take up professional positions.
BIEDO CEO, Linda Silburn says the day was a great success, providing a diverse group of the people with the chance to network and discuss new ways of increasing employment, training and education in our region.
"Our speakers were able to give some really practical insights and share their experience when it comes to creating employment and training solutions that work," Linda said.
"Our goal is to have "Action this Day", where real actions and solutions are generated by agencies and key groups and we can start seeing real outcomes for our community," she said.
BIEDO will be running four more Peak Forums in 2011 on the topics of transport, suicide management, economic development and "Clean and Clever", repositioning the Inland as a "green region". For further information, please call the BIEDO office on 4169 7851.
