Congratulations to Tameka and Luke Gogerly of Kingaroy who are the winners of Round Two in BIEDO's "Funky Footprints Challenge"! (Tameka is pictured with Michael Jones from the Positive Group).
The Gogerly's have won a Whirly Bird (including installation) sponsored by "The Positive Group" in Nanango. Tameka said the challenge of reducing their carbon footprint wasn't hard and her family just made some simple, common sense changes.
"We were able to reduce our energy consumption just by switching appliances off at the wall, rather than leaving them on standby all the time. It really does make a huge difference. We also did a bit more walking, rather than driving, we planted some trees, built another veggie garden and added to our compost heap," Tameka said.
"I've just finished studying for my degree in Environmental Science and for me it's important that these types of energy reducing activities are part of my daily life," she said.
The BIEDO Funky Footprints Challenge has been made possible through a community grant awarded through the Low Carbon Diet Community Funding Program, a ClimateSmart initiative of the Department of Environment and Resource Management.
