Beautiful spring weather made it a great day on Monday 18th October when RHealth and BIEDO held a free community garden workshop at the Kingaroy community garden on Pound Street.
Berneice Hilly from RHealth was on hand to demonstrate healthy cooking ideas and said it was a great opportunity for the community to learn more about growing their own fruit and veggies and how to turn them into tasty meals.
"We made very yummy vegetable rice paper rolls with fresh food from the garden which everyone enjoyed!" she said. It was a great way to pick up some simple, healthy recipes and tips on growing your own food," she said. Also on hand were BIEDO Permaculture gardeners Therese Dalton and Grace Gibson helping participants to make tiny pots with paper.
"It was great to see the kids getting involved and learning how to care for seeds and plants. BIEDO are very excited to now be involved in running the Kingaroy Community Garden and hope to have even more workshops like this one in the future," Grace said.
