BIEDO was established in 1996 by community & industry activists concerned about the impact of drought on our region. Since 2000 it has gone from strength to strength. BIEDO is now auspiced by 2 regional councils (formerly 12 shire councils) and companies such as Tarong Energy, with many smaller businesses and community groups supporting us through membership, project partnerships and communication networks. Despite our growing success, BIEDO is still a grassroots, not-for-profit incorporated organisation that is directed by our industry, community and council members. It is entirely project and member funded. We do not receive government recurrent funding. For an overview of our work in 2009/10, please see our Annual Report.

BIEDO is one of the peak regional bodies for the Burnett Inland. The Inland comprises 2 regional council areas, 14 primary communities and 29 villages and farming districts. We drive proactive, positive responses to change, and create opportunity from adversity. Our role is to:
"Give us a problem and we'll solve it.
Give us an opportunity and we'll make it happen"!
Although you may not know it, if you live in the Inland Burnett, chances are you have already benefited from a grant, project, service or workshop developed or supported by BIEDO over the last 10 years. And chances are if you haven't yet, you will!
